Take action to change things for the better (as long as your actions are not illegal).
Education gives power to make the world a better place. With education you have knowledge, you can make your own choices, you can tell what is wrong and what is right and what is good for yourself and for your community. At school you can develop your passion and become a better person.
The “Breadwinner” takes place in Afghanistan in the years 2000’s when the Taliban took over Afghanistan. This book focuses on a family that lives in Kabul. This family is well educated, but is cursed by the Taliban not letting them speak their ideas. The book follows Parvana (the second born to the family) into her journey to seek a better life and help people on the way.
Early in the book Parvana’s father, gets arrested because he had a western education. When Parvana and her mother go to the prison, they both got beaten because they didn’t agree that father should be arrested just because of his education, yet the Taliban had no mercy on them. Later in the book stops her friend Shauzia from stomping her foot in a rhythm . Parvana had seen the Taliban hit a child for making music. This I find unacceptable I think music is a way to express yourself other than using words.
Looking back on the “Breadwinner” I am remembering all these horrible things the Taliban had done to Parvana’s family. I am truly thankful that I can go to school and get an education. It feels good to think that you can help make the world better.
